Didem Geçit Berkel was born in Istanbul in 1975. She graduated with honors from the Sculpture Department of Marmara University Faculty of Fine Arts in 1997. After many years of channeling her creativity into advertising and design, she returned to her roots in art, developing a unique visual language that bridges these two worlds.
Her deep connection with nature is one of the defining elements of her work. She enjoys producing her own paints and pigments, experimenting with natural materials, and discovering new textures with each piece. Her background in sculpture brings a strong sense of texture and dimensionality to her paintings, aiming to create not just a visual, but also an emotional connection with the viewer.
She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, and her works are part of various private collections. Berkel currently lives in Istanbul, where she continues her artistic production in her own studio.
